CSS Sprite Generator code available at launchpad.net | 1 Comment

Ed and I have put the code for the Sprite Generator up on launchpad.net under a BSD license, and you can either download the source as a tar file or if you’ve got bazaar you’ll be able to checkout the branch and hack away on it to you hearts content.

Checking out the branch is as simple as running:

bzr branch lp:css-sprite-generator

We’ve got some work to do in terms of adding documentation to provide the steps for installing the code, but hopefully this will be added in the not too distant future.

If you want to try the tool out you can of course use our current hosted version at http://spritegen.website-performance.org

Post Tools

GNU screen: open tab in current working directory|(1)

A nice trick for having screen open a new tab in the same directory as the one you’re currently in. To use it add it to your .screenrc

# Open new window in current dir.
bind c stuff "screen -X chdir \$PWD;screen^M"
bind ^c stuff "screen -X chdir \$PWD;screen^M"

Ubuntu: add-apt-repository: command not found|(3)

When you’re using a minimal Ubuntu install if you find the ‘add-apt-repository’ command is missing (it’s useful for adding PPAs and other repositories), then simply run:

sudo apt-get install python-software-properties
