Microsoft have released a beta of the new Remote Desktop connection client for mac. It’s a universal binary which should make a difference for anyone accessing a pc over RDP. Other benefits of the new version include support for RPD 6.0 and dynamic screen resizing. Another bonus is multiple sessions at once. Download it from microsoft.com.

Interesting that you mention this, Stuart. I was also quite glad to see they’d released an update but after using it a few times I have to say I’ve been having a few problems.

First issue was that it didn’t seem to remember any of my settings from the old version, which is more an annoyance than anything, but would it have been so hard to migrate settings?

Second and more important is that my Internet Explorer seems to crash repeatedly whenever I’m in an RDC, but if I log into the machine itself and do the same actions, it works fine. It’s a relatively old box that I’m logging into, but I’ve never had problems like this before.

Might just be me but I’d be interested to hear about other people’s experiences.

Using Loggerhead with mod_wsgi|(0)

Here’s a post I wrote over on the Project Fondue Blog about our use of Loggerhead with mod_wsgi under Apache. Loggerhead is the rather nice branch viewer for bazaar branches as used on Launchpad.net.

If you’re not already subscribed to the Project Fondue blog feed then I can recommend it, as there should be some interesting posts coming out of there in the coming months (yes I’m unashamedly biased!).

Ubuntu: Turn off changing workspace with mouse wheel|(1)

I found the changing with the workspace with the mouse wheel really annoying. To disable it go to System => Preferences => CompizConfig (available if the compizconfig-settings-manager package is installed) and uncheck “Viewport Switcher” which is under the “Desktop” heading.
