WebDev Toolbar Beta 3 for IE | 2 Comments

Back in January Microsoft released a newer version of their web developer toolbar and I’ve only just noticed it. This beta seems to be a lot nicer than the previous version few more features and so far it seems more stable on IE6. If you haven’t already you can download the Web Dev Toolbar Beta 3 from Microsoft.com. Be warned that if you have the previous version installed you MUST uninstall it before installing beta 3. Yep I missed that instruction and it crashes IE every time you try to use it!

Thanks Stuart. I overlooked this update as well. And on IE7 it installs as one of the right-side icons, not as a toolbar as the previous version did. Took me some time to find it.

Thanks for this, Stuart. Took me a while to find it too. But looks like a possible contender to Firefox’s Web Dev Toolbar. Especially since Firefox is such a resource hog on Windows, whereas IE is less so.

GNU screen: open tab in current working directory|(1)

A nice trick for having screen open a new tab in the same directory as the one you’re currently in. To use it add it to your .screenrc

# Open new window in current dir.
bind c stuff "screen -X chdir \$PWD;screen^M"
bind ^c stuff "screen -X chdir \$PWD;screen^M"

Ubuntu: add-apt-repository: command not found|(3)

When you’re using a minimal Ubuntu install if you find the ‘add-apt-repository’ command is missing (it’s useful for adding PPAs and other repositories), then simply run:

sudo apt-get install python-software-properties
