The Lab goes the way of the Apple | Comments (2)

This Saturday I will be going to collect my 12″ Powerbook that I recently bought on Ebay.

I’ve been hankering after one of these for literally years, and as I need a small machine with wireless for travelling the 12″ seems the obvious choice.

This is going to be a bit of a test for me to see if I like using OSX long-term. I find switching between Linux and Windows no problem, so switching between 3 operating systems shouldn’t be any different. If I really like it then I’m sure I’ll be laying down the cash for an Intel Powerbook once they have arrived and proved themselves. A triple boot (Linux/OSX/Win) machine sounds irresistable to me.

Congrats on your recent Apple purchase. It’s times like this that make me proud to be a faithful Apple user.

Thanks Jorge; I am enjoying my powerbook now that I have sussed out that “alt+3 = #” and “fn+backspace = delete!”

I hope that the new Intel PowerBooks will have a right mouse button!

Using Loggerhead with mod_wsgi|(0)

Here’s a post I wrote over on the Project Fondue Blog about our use of Loggerhead with mod_wsgi under Apache. Loggerhead is the rather nice branch viewer for bazaar branches as used on Launchpad.net.

If you’re not already subscribed to the Project Fondue blog feed then I can recommend it, as there should be some interesting posts coming out of there in the coming months (yes I’m unashamedly biased!).

Ubuntu: Turn off changing workspace with mouse wheel|(1)

I found the changing with the workspace with the mouse wheel really annoying. To disable it go to System => Preferences => CompizConfig (available if the compizconfig-settings-manager package is installed) and uncheck “Viewport Switcher” which is under the “Desktop” heading.
