In March 2006 I will be heading out to Texas to experience the South by South West Interactive festival. I am looking forward to my first trip to the other side of the pond and I’m sure there will be a lot of interesting stuff going on along with plenty of beer and social events to attend to.

I will probably be booking have booked in to the Hampton Inn which has been recommended to me by Ian Lloyd. If anyone is looking to share a room (the standard rooms have two double beds) please contact me via the comments below or my contact form My room is now shared!

GNU screen: open tab in current working directory|(1)

A nice trick for having screen open a new tab in the same directory as the one you’re currently in. To use it add it to your .screenrc

# Open new window in current dir.
bind c stuff "screen -X chdir \$PWD;screen^M"
bind ^c stuff "screen -X chdir \$PWD;screen^M"

Ubuntu: add-apt-repository: command not found|(2)

When you’re using a minimal Ubuntu install if you find the ‘add-apt-repository’ command is missing (it’s useful for adding PPAs and other repositories), then simply run:

sudo apt-get install python-software-properties
