London Blasts | Comments (0)

I heard this morning that there have been several bomb blasts on the London underground and a London Bus.There are some reports out there that Al Quaeda are claiming responsibility.

So far everyone seems pretty calm about it, and the emergency service’s reponse appears to have been very fast.

My thoughts go out to anyone currently caught up in this.

These events seem to be the birth of Flickr as a news source. It’s amazing now that we live with so much technology at our fingertips the whole world knows about current events as they happen.

GNU screen: open tab in current working directory|(1)

A nice trick for having screen open a new tab in the same directory as the one you’re currently in. To use it add it to your .screenrc

# Open new window in current dir.
bind c stuff "screen -X chdir \$PWD;screen^M"
bind ^c stuff "screen -X chdir \$PWD;screen^M"

Ubuntu: add-apt-repository: command not found|(2)

When you’re using a minimal Ubuntu install if you find the ‘add-apt-repository’ command is missing (it’s useful for adding PPAs and other repositories), then simply run:

sudo apt-get install python-software-properties
