Mr. Mugo and the snake… | Comments (2)

Posted in Life on 16th July 2004, 11:38 am by Stuart

One fine day we returned from town to find our cat Mr. Mugo playing with a strange and yet recognisable shape on our driveway. I first of all thought that it was a toy snake; you know the rubbery plastic ones, and we do have a lot of children in our neighbourhood.

When I took a proper look I realised it was actually a grass snake that he had found and killed. This cat of ours thinks he’s a mongoose!

I have a cat called barnaby he often kills and eats moths and flys. I can’t even swat a fly that easily and he can do it in seconds. I ‘ve never seen a cat kill a snake before though!

GNU screen: open tab in current working directory|(1)

A nice trick for having screen open a new tab in the same directory as the one you’re currently in. To use it add it to your .screenrc

# Open new window in current dir.
bind c stuff "screen -X chdir \$PWD;screen^M"
bind ^c stuff "screen -X chdir \$PWD;screen^M"

Ubuntu: add-apt-repository: command not found|(2)

When you’re using a minimal Ubuntu install if you find the ‘add-apt-repository’ command is missing (it’s useful for adding PPAs and other repositories), then simply run:

sudo apt-get install python-software-properties
